Roelof Koets

Roelof Koets (1592, Haarlem – 1654, Haarlem), was a Dutch Golden Age painter.

Biography

According to the RKD, he was the teacher of his son, the later painter Andries Koets. He worked together with the Haarlem still life painters Pieter Claesz and Jan Jansz van de Velde.[1] He himself was influenced by Floris van Dyck and in turn influenced Floris van Schooten.[1]

Roelof Koets of Zwolle

Another Roelof Koets or Coets, usually referred to as Roelof Koets II (ca 1640-1725), was born and worked in Zwolle and is known as a portrait painter and the teacher of the miniature painter Herman Wolters, the husband of Henriëtta van Pee. Portraits are generally attibuted to Koets II, and still life paintings are all attributed to the earlier Roelof Koets.[2]
